MRT has been the only professional theatre
in Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley since its
founding in 1979. The 36-year-old company
attracts more than 35,000 audience members
each year. Its September through May season
of seven productions features primarily
contemporary work and frequently regional and
world premieres. It has become known for its
high production standards and is a centerpiece of
the region's cultural identity.
Director of marketing and public relations
Kate Brandt says, "MRT is easily accessible and
there's plenty of parking. You don't have to drive
to Boston to get really high-quality, affordable
theatre. We are for people who want to add a lit-
tle variety to their theatrical diet, and are looking
for something that is more intimate—who want to
get a bit adventurous. But it is going to be some-
thing familiar, too."
