I f you're a regular reader of RINK Magazine, then you know the North American Rink Conference & Expo (NARCE) is only a few weeks away, and hopefully you are counting down the days like I am. I really enjoy the opportunity that NARCE affords me — get out of the office, interact with STAR members and reconnect with old friends and acquaintances. This is the 13th anniversary of what is many consider the most important event of the year for our industry. What started out as an ambitious idea by Lewis Liebert, former publisher of RINK Magazine, in partnership with STAR and a small group of vendors, has grown into the largest ice arena industry- focused educational conference and trade show of its kind in the United States. If you are not able to attend one of the 10 educational courses offered this year, make it a point to come out to the trade show on Tuesday night or Wednesday afternoon to interact with the leading vendors in our industry and network with your peers. If NARCE isn't in your plans, hopefully we will see you at one of STAR's Regional Training Programs this summer and fall. This year we will be conducting 21 courses at 12 different locations spread across the country. Course information, dates and locations are included in this issue, or find it online at starrinks.com under the education tab. It is also STAR's 15th year serving our members in the American rink industry, and over those years we have worked diligently toward meeting our mission: "To be the premier national organization designed to foster the development, growth and success of ice skating facilities in the United States." This June the STAR Board of Directors and staff will start planning for the future with the intention of making a greater impact on our industry over the next 15 years.
