48 / MAY.JUNE.2015 RINKMAGAZINE.COM STAR NEWS Updates from Serving The American Rinks STAR Supports WIAMA and NEISMA Spring Conferences STAR was once again invited by the Wisconsin Ice Arena Management Association (WIAMA) to participate in their annual spring conference in the Wisconsin Dells on April 22-24. As in years past, STAR sponsored the event and participated in the trade show. STAR was also invited to participate in the North East Ice Skating Managers Association (NEISMA) annual spring conference held April 27-29 in Falmouth, Mass. In addition to being an event spon- sor and trade show exhibitor, Jeff Theiler, Chief Operating Officer, delivered a Safe Ice Resurfacer Operation (SIRO) course for NEISMA members. STAR would like to thank both WIAMA and NEISMA for the opportunity to con- tribute to their membership events each year. Calling All Certified Ice Technicians (CITs) Individuals who have been awarded the Certified Ice Technician (CIT) profes- sional designation by STAR are required to recertify every five years from the year their CIT was originally achieved. They must also maintain an annual STAR indi- vidual membership to keep their CIT pro- fessional designation valid. Individuals who were awarded their CIT in the years 2003-2010, and have not already successfully completed the CIT recertification course, or passed the CIT recertification exam within the last five years, will be required to recertify in 2015. A list of all current CITs is available under the education tab at starrinks.com. There will be two ways for individuals to recer- tify their CIT professional designation in 2015: 1. Attend and successfully complete the CIT review workshop and recertifica- tion exam at the North American Rink Conference & Expo, May 18-21, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. 2. Successfully complete the CIT recerti- fication exam, which will be offered at STAR Regional Training Program loca- tions this summer.
