Bobby not only gets skaters started in a fun and safe way, but it's also a ride and a way to increases rink revenue. The results are in from around the country. The RINK in Lakewood: "We have seen an 82 percent rise in our public sessions compared to last year from using Bobby." Palos Verdes Ice Chalet: "For most public sessions we have a waiting list at least five people long waiting to use the Bobby. I can say without a doubt, they are worth every penny." Skatetown Ice Arena: "They are a great tool for getting children to try skating that might not otherwise be willing." UTC in La Jolla: "We started making money from the very first day." The First CO2 Ice Rink in U.S. , The first U.S. ice rink to use sustain- able CO 2 refrigeration is benefiting from lower operational costs and reduced envi- ronmental impact just two months after opening. "We are already seeing savings, and we're anticipating energy savings of 25 percent to 40 percent when all the results are in," said John Rodda, Parks & Recreation Director for Anchorage, Alaska. The city operates the Harry J. McDonald Recreational Center, which reopened its ice rink to skaters and hockey teams in early January, following a nine- month renovation and installation of a carbon dioxide-based ice rink refrigeration system from Hillphoenix. The energy- efficient CO 2 system has lowered the ice rink's electric bills, and it also has greatly reduced spending on refrigerant. ENGO Keeps Arenas Safe, Emission-Free , Take a more environmentally friendly approach by turning to a machine that creates zero carbon emissions. Engo ice resurfacers and edgers are battery-powered machines that are renowned throughout the industry as the standard for ice mainte- nance around the world. In North America, Joe Johnson Equipment exclusively distributes Engo's 270SX, 230RT, 200SX and 170SX mod- els. These state-of-the-art machines run entirely on battery power, unlike many of their gas-powered counterparts. The bat- tery/charging system is so efficient that operators can run through an entire day in a twin-pad facility without ever having to worry about the batteries keeping up.
