18 Issue 75 / 2015 travel guestlist.net Spend your Summer in AmSterdAm Amsterdam is always high on the list of top travel destinations, and rightly so. First off, the city just looks so damn good – canals, bridges, those tall, thin houses, it's just picture perfect whatever the weather. Amsterdam is home to some of the best museums and galleries in the world, so culture vultures will be spoiled for choice. You can cycle everywhere, and if you're on a bike, you are the most important person on road. Seriously, do no underestimate the power of the bike. The food is ridiculous – tiny little pancakes, chips covered in glorious sauce, CHEESE. And you can smoke weed if you want to. On top of all that, Amsterdam hosts some of the best festivals of the summer. We've already given you the lowdown on the legendary Awakenings weekender, and now we've got four more fests not to be missed this season. Pacha Festival opens the season with three stages at the almost surreal island location in the centre of Amsterdam. Unpretentious and glamorous, the iconic Pure Pacha will form this year's main stage with house infused beats from Bingo Players, Franky Rizardo, Housequake, John Jacobsen, MK, Sander Kleinenberg feat. Audio Bullys, and The Shapeshifters. As the infamous Insane nights return to the White Isle, Pacha Festival follows suit by providing cool, underground sounds from Benny Rodrigues, Cinnaman, Dennis Ferrer, Danny Wade, Dosem, Monika Kruse, and Technasia b2b Uner. New to this year's edition is a second open air area, Deep Open Air, with freshly squeezed beats from the likes of Amine Edge & DANCE, Cassy b2b Yousef, DJ Sneak, Mark Farina, Prunk, Riva Starr, Roge Sanchez aka S-man b2b Bontan. The legendary Ibiza Hippy Market will also be at the festival, with an expanded variety and range, perfect for those wanting the full White Isle experience. Pacha Festival - 23rd May Following four previous successful editions, Amsterdam Open Air returns to Gaasperpark for its fifth anniversary. During the weekend the best of Amsterdam's nightlife melt seamlessly into a musical, culinary and cultural adventure. The weekend holds true to the tradition of previous editions and unites the new and established faces of today and tomorrow. Every year Amsterdam Open Air collaborates with a variable collection of the most inspiring Amsterdam-based organisations, reflecting the best the Dutch capital has to offer. This year FORMAT, GirlsLoveDJs, Straf_Werk, MTV, Weiter, Yours Truly, Voyage Direct, Lotgenoten, Disco Dolly, Vunzige Deuntjes, Tomorrow Is Now, Kid!, Klear, Africa's Epic Sound and Radio Noet Noet are all hosting stages. The festival will offer a dynamic mix of house, tech house, deep house, techno, hip-hop, and disco. Artists such as Madeon, Kyla La Grange, Black Coffee, Claptone, Bakermat, Bondax, Typhoon, Ben Sims, Klingande, Detroit Swindle, Tom Trago, Surgeon and Jackmaster will all make appearances this year.
