T he SCORE Baja 1000 and off-road racing were born on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico in 1967. While the list of this race's winners is a long one, imagine taking 43 years for a Mexican driver to win the overall at the Baja 1000. Tavo and Gus Vildosola accomplished this, winning the famed race in 2010. Until 2015, however, they remained the only Mexicans to win an overall in a SCORE race. Lalo Laguna became the second Mexican to win an overall SCORE race when he took the top spot on the podium at the Inaugural Baja Sur 500 in April of this year. Of all the SCORE races, the Baja 500 was the only major race yet to be won by a Mexican driver.
