he SCORE Baja
1000 and off-road
racing were born on
the Baja Peninsula
of Mexico in 1967.
While the list of
this race's winners
is a long one, imagine taking
43 years for a Mexican driver
to win the overall at the Baja
1000. Tavo and Gus Vildosola
accomplished this, winning the
famed race in 2010. Until 2015,
however, they remained the
only Mexicans to win an overall
in a SCORE race. Lalo Laguna
became the second Mexican
to win an overall SCORE race
when he took the top spot on
the podium at the Inaugural Baja
Sur 500 in April of this year.
Of all the SCORE races, the
Baja 500 was the only major
race yet to be won by a Mexican
driver. All that would change
however at the 47th Bud Light
