The Baja 700 truck is a standard
Ford Raptor with a 6.2 liter V8,
but is equipped with a Whipple
supercharger, a larger throttle
body, a performance ECU tune,
larger injectors and a Borla
stainless steel exhaust. Shelby
also added a heat exchanger
for the supercharger that can
make the Raptor seem more like
you're driving a real Unlimited
Trophy Truck. "The challenge
for the truck came when we
added the extra horsepower,"
said Feher. "The rear wheels
had axle hop and at the speeds
the truck could go off-road,
the factory suspension wasn't
set-up to handle it. So we got
together with Rogue Suspension
to develop a new system."
Rogue adds new heavier-duty
upper and lower control arms
and King 3-inch coil-over shocks
in the front, and rear bypass
shocks. Rogue also added a
rear brace and traction bar that
prevented wheel hop under
hard acceleration. The result is
a well-tuned vehicle that's not
only extremely capable of high
speeds across the open desert
but can also handle well at high
speeds on the highway. Coupled
with a set of 18x9 Fuel wheels
mounted to BFGoodrich KO2
35x12.5x18-inch rubber, the
Shelby Baja 700 is ready to take
on any type of terrain.
AT THE REAR ROGUE
ADDED A LOWER
TRACTION BAR TO
ELIMINATE WHEEL HOP
WITH THE EXTRA POWER
FROM THE ENGINE.
THE BAJA 700 USES
18X9 FUEL WHEELS
MOUNTED ON
BFGOODRICH KO2
35X12.5X18-INCH
RUBBER.
