Summit Racing fittings and lines supply petrol from a 36-gallon Pyrotect fuel cell, new Auto Meter gauges replaced the dysfunctional plugs on the dash, and KC HiLiTES HIDs were fitted up top and on the front bumper hoop. Walking around the Bronco reveals the original OE steering wheel, the interior is trimmed in Ford Blue, and was outfitted with MasterCraft Pro 4 seats, five-point restraint harnesses, and window nets. Back in the '60s, aluminum slot mags were the hot setup. Wanting to keep the same appearance, Baker scanned the far reaches of the Internet and found a nearly perfect set of American Racing Ansen Sprint wheels. BFGoodrich, one of Hall's long- standing sponsors, wrapped up the build with a set of Mud- Terrain KM2 tires. Two weeks later Hall climbed behind the wheel of the Bronco in Ensenada for another charge down the Baja peninsula. It was a historical moment, as it is not often that we see a seasoned veteran of the muscle car era back on the racetrack, and even less often that the original pilot is at the controls of his original vehicle. When the dust settled in San José del Cabo, after nearly 1,300 mile of Baja's best, Rod (now 78) and co-driver/ granddaughter Shelby Hall were on the podium with a 2nd-in- Class trophy in hand.
