30 Issue 78 / 2015 HOUSE/ TECHNO guestlist.net We've only been waiting five years for his album, so no wonder he's got our attention News MaNchester's whP are Not fuckiNg about Every season they swamp punters with mammoth line-ups from September till December. Following a reduced service last year, the guys are back with a full season at their spiritual home, Store Street, and as you'd expect the line- ups are huge! House, grime, techno, drum & bass, garage…all forms of electronic music are represented with maximum effect. Only the best play within its famous four walls and with the likes of Leftfield, New Order, and Hudson Mohawke billed you know there's no fucking about. WHP's 2015 season kicks off on 25th September, with MK's Area 10 hosting proceedings and will end on New Years Day, details of which are still to be announced. When it comes to clubbing in Manchester, few do it as well as the brains behind the Warehouse Project Since bursting out of the Bristol house scene in 2009, Bashmore has maintained a steady presence on dancefloors across the globe and on the rosters of some of the best electronic labels around. Five years on, Bashmore has unleashed his very long-awaited debut album on the world. Knockin' Boots is the culmination of intensive experimentation and honing of the Bashmore sound: an ultra-vivid, totally authentic, raw and rowdy house music record that keeps the dirt and the soul of the music intact. Julio Bashmore is no ordinary artist, so it's only fitting that he celebrated the launch of his album a little differently than usual. First up he got Daniel Brereton to direct a short film ahead of the release – the 70's-esque piece opens up Bashmore's world, featuring his fave spots in Bristol, his beloved dog Gryff, his granddad Don, tracks from Knockin' Boots and a whole lotta dancing. As the album was recorded at Red Bull Studios in London, where he was Artist-in-Residence last year, Bashmore also curated a one-off multimedia exhibition at the studios, in partnership with creative studio Beach London. He commissioned artworks by talented UK artists including Alex May Hughes, Tess Redburn and Joe Hawkes, and the results included a custom Julio Bashmore arcade game, a gold plated hat, and a neon Bashmore Chicken sign. Like we said, far from ordinary. He was already highly in-demand before Knockin' Boots, but now everyone is going to want a bit of Bashmore.
