48 Issue 78 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net A healthy love for fast breaks and heavy bass pushes Break towards his serious and technical sound. Unparalleled in production skills, the Bristol producer has seen his tracks out on so many of the biggest labels including Metalheadz, Shogun and Exit. His talents haven't gone unnoticed; his music is supported by anyone who's anyone in the scene and he's been commissioned for a number of big remixes including Bloc Party's hit 'The Prayer' and Shy FX's 'Bambaata'. His third album is due for release very soon and the first sampler 'Simper Times with Kyo / Top Shooter' is already here! They quickly developed a strong sound and found a home at Goldie's infamous Metalheadz imprint. They became the first artists to release an album on the label, called Call To Mind. Full of classics the album had carved Commix into the drum & bass history books. One half of Commix is back and ready to make some noise again. George recently signed Commix up with The Bassic Agency, home to other legends like Doc Scott, Digital and Zero T, and with new tracks in the pipeline he is primed and ready to go. His ex-partner Guy is flexing his production skills with his techno alias, Shifted. It looks like there will be tonnes of fresh material for us to sink our teeth into, which is great news as if the name Commix has taught us anything, it's that the standard should fall nothing short of perfect. The Cambridge badman has already confirmed a three part series out on Commix's spiritual home, Metalheadz. So I guess all we do now is wait, but for Commix it's worth it. Sure it starts all summer vibes, uplifting melodies, soft vocals and all that but really it's a tune for the screw faces. Taking a more elegant approach from the outset, there's a serious liquid game happening that's complete with trumpets and vocals. Then this relaxed vibe that's been created is burst, like a pin to a balloon, and we're given a tinny drumbeat with twisted bass, going from summer BBQ times straight to main room madness with no stops. The track is the BSide to Document One's latest release on Technique Records. DocuMent one - foLLow Me Don't be lulled into false security with this tune DnB news coMMix is BAck in Business
