56 INDIE / ROCK guestlist.net Issue 78 / 2015 The English rock band from Teignmouth formed in 1994 and they have already released seven studio albums. Just a few weeks ago, their latest one Drones came out. The album clearly critically deals with the American military strategy but it is not just about that. Muse's journey is a human one, from their sense of abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection. Muse are always able to hit their fans with their gripping rock sound, and Drones is just another example of that. Artist Of the MOnth Muse Muse's return is killing it Florence + The Machine have always had a precise and unique music style. So it's no surprise that their new album How Big How Blue How Beautiful is a ground-breaking record. Florence Welch has decided to create the most personal and emotional album yet. From 'What Kind of Man' to 'Ship To Wreck', Florence gives us an insight on her emotional turmoil. After the symbolism of Between Two Lungs and Ceremonials, How Big How Blue How Beautiful is more down to earth. Broken hearts, confusion, disillusionment are part of everyone's life, but that doesn't mean that they have less resonance. As with the previous albums, it creates a whole layered world with the help of symbolic figures such as saints or biblical characters. She is not obsessed with water or death, but she has still a lot to say. Through Welch's stunning voice and the magnetic lyrics, we are trapped in a beautiful journey. The verses of 'St. Jude' explain the odyssey itself: it is an impressive, intimate manifesto of Florence's emotions. Despite having only three albums published, Florence + The Machine are up there with the greatest indie rock groups of the day. Their success in both the UK and US charts is well-deserved. Morrissey is back! The former The Smiths's frontman plays two special London dates this September. After a series of successful US tour dates that has seen the extraordinary Brit icon sharing the stage with fellow 80s icons as Blondie and Amanda Palmer, he's back in the capital to wow the crowds this side of the Atlantic. We've been waiting for another Morrissey concert since his acclaimed UK arena tour back in March, so catch him at the Eventim Apollo on September 20th and 21st. His voice, his energy, and his pulsating vibe can not be missed.
