14 / SEPTEMBER.OCTOBER.2015 RINKMAGAZINE.COM Industry News Updates from around the rink The Indestructible Peg by Lange Originals , From the makers of fine automotive and hockey products for 25 years comes the Indestructible Peg by Lange Originals. The last, full-length, freeze-in hockey goal post peg you will ever buy. These pegs will not rust, and they are indestructible. I-Pegs help extend the life of nets by keeping them free from rust that discolors and breaks down net fibers when pegs are put on top of the net. No one likes buying new white nets or restringing them. Because I-Pegs don't rust, the ice around the peg stays cleaner. I-Pegs are CNC machined, in the USA, out of 100% stainless steel. Chuck those old rusty pegs! Because I-Pegs are made to last forever, you will never need to buy another peg. I-Pegs are available now and can be ordered at i-pegs.com. RMRA Accepting Membership Registrations , The Rocky Mountain Rink Association was formed in 2015 when 16 facilities came together to talk about the need for a membership organization dedicated to serving rinks in Colorado. As more states became interested, that idea was expanded to include the Rocky Mountain Region, and rinks from Wyoming, Montana, and New Mexico began partnering with a constantly growing group of rink professionals. Working together to improve upon industry standards, we aim to provide edu- cational opportunities for ice rink profes- sionals in the Rocky Mountain Region. To accomplish this, we have meetings once a quarter and trainings scheduled throughout each year to continue to develop and train those members of our association. We are currently accepting membership registrations and are pleased to be hosting a training program later this month in Boulder, Colorado. For further information on RMRA, contact Alec Hines, President, at ahines@fhprd.org or 303-409-2221. For more, visit starrinks.com/RMRA. SK8 TO ELIMIN8 CANCER Events with The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation , On August 8, Scott Hamilton and The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation hosted five SK8 TO ELIMIN8 CANCER events simultaneously, in five cities across the United States, to raise awareness and funding for cancer research. Occurring in Paramount, California, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Santa Rosa, California, Monument, Colorado, and Nashville, Tennessee, these skating events raised more than $24,000 through peer-to-peer fundraising. SK8 TO ELIMIN8 CANCER allows for anyone to participate, and while many people skated at these events, that was cer- tainly not a requirement. Community mem- bers attended to support cancer survivors, or to raise money from family and friends through their online fundraising pages. Scott Hamilton, Olympic gold medalist, cancer survivor, husband, and father of four kids, was humbled and appreciative by the outpouring of support for these events. "People care about their families, their neighbors, and even complete strangers. We are all in this fight together and I can't thank the community enough for their support," he said. Hamilton founded the foundation to help patients become survivors. Visit scottcares.org for more information. Do you have news?
