7 Issue 80 / 2015 travel guestlist.net 19 At first glance, the Northern Italian city may not seem like an electronic music capital, but every autumn it stakes its claim as the place to party with Movement Torino and Club To Club rolling into town. Turin, set against a dramatic Alpine backdrop, is a beautiful city – you can soak up the culture and architecture, you can sample the delights of the Slow Food Movement and you can catch a Juventus game if football's your thing. We should also mention that Turin is the place where Nutella was invented, and that is reason enough to go anywhere. And it couldn't be easier to get to – you can get super cheap flights from all over the UK and it takes under two hours. Movement Torino – October 31st It seems that the Halloween weekend has become one of the prime times to party across the world, and Italy is no different as Movement Torino takes over the holiday for its tenth edition. The European cousin of Movement Detroit has become one of the best-loved electronic festivals in the region and with good reason. This year the main show, held at Lingotto Fiere, features heavyweights like Derrick May, Ame, Chris Liebing, Dixon, Derrick Carter, Kevin Saunderson, Robert Hood, Len Faki, Mano Le Tough, Lil Louis, Nina Kraviz, Mathew Jonson and DJ Sneak. There's more on offer than just the main event though as Movement's mission is always to collaborate with important cultural institutions such as Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Torino, Politecnico, Museo del Risparmio, Museo Ettore Fico and BasicVillage's Temporary Museum. The festival offers meetings and lectures, making it much more of a 360 degree cultural experience. On October 24th, Superga are hosting an opening party featuring Kerri Chandler and Davide Squillace, followed by a Red Bull Music Academy "Classical meets Contemporary" event on the 27th, plus a warm up and closing show, starring Virgo Four and special guest, either side of the 31st – it is their tenth birthday after all. Club To Club – November 4th – 8th 2015 is a big year for Club To Club – they're celebrating their 15th anniversary with an absolutely monster edition. Radiohead's Thom Yorke will be performing his solo LP Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, electronic heavyweights Four Tet, Jamie xx, Todd Terje, Nicholas Jaar are all hitting the stage, as will the likes of Novelist and Mumdance, Floating Points, Battles, Apparat, Jack Garratt, Jeff Mills, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Kode9, Omar Souleyman, Anthony Naples and Andy Stott. Red Bull Music Academy will also be hosting a stage, the first time it's had one in Italy since 2012, featuring some incredibly exciting artists such as Furtherset, The Sprawl, Not Waving, Powell, Lotic, Rabit, Tala and more. #C2C15, there really is something for everyone.
