20 FESTIVALS guestlist.net Issue 80 / 2015 Simple ThingS keepS The feSTival vibeS alive Taking place on October 23rd and 24th, across various venues in the city, Simple Things has become a Bristol must-do The brains behind Simple Things keep it moving year on year with excellent line-up selections and 2015 is set to be their best edition yet. With Skepta & JME, Savages, Lee Scratch Perry, Lone, Romare, Spectres, Chastity Belt, and Blanck Mass amongst the live acts and the likes of Mike Skinner, Objekt, Helena Hauff, Hunee and Moxie on the DJ list, they've managed to lock in something for everyone without sacrificing a sense of unpredictability and excitement. Saturday is the main event, but you won't want to miss the special, standalone opening party headlined by the legendary nine-piece Godspeed You! Black Emperor. From 4th – 8th November, Reykjavik is the place to be Iceland Airwaves is definitely a unique festival. Taking place in the beautiful city of Reykjavik, it continues to expand year on year without ever losing the eclecticism that makes it special. 2015 will see their biggest event yet and they've packed the line-up full of diverse artists, new music and home-grown talent. Where else would you see the likes of Aurora, Beach House, SOAK, Chastity Belt, Father John Misty, East India Youth, JME, Hot Chip, Skepta, Lapsley, Lucy Rose, QT, Tuff Love, and Sekuoia sharing a bill? This year's fest is focuses on visual art as well as music. Iceland Airwaves have joined forces with Urban Nation Berlin and international street artists to transform the walls of Reykjavik into works of art, an event they're calling Wallpoetry. As curator Yasha Young explains: "The goal was to take the invisible creative process when a painter listens to a record while painting or a musician sees a certain painting or art installation and wants to incorporate the emotional experience and inspiration in her or his songs and connect this process between the two on a very special collaborative platform."
