24 Issue 80 / 2015 HOUSE/ TECHNO guestlist.net After a strong FFRR debut with their Don't Cry Wolf EP, Icarus are soaring higher and higher News Busy P is BaNgiNg heads at XOyO Following on from Skream, Eats Everything and Bicep, the Ed Banger boss Busy P is next up in XOYO's residency concept. He'll be back at the London club from early October till December 19th celebrating 20 years of partying. His residence at the club marks two decades of Busy P smashing the dance. The main man will be joined by a collection of top talent such as Basement Jaxx, 2manydjs and Gesaffelstien. Other highlights from XOYO's new residency include special back-2-back sets that see Busy P going head to head with Brodinski, Erol Alkan and Justice. XOYO have a new resident for the autumn season Bristolian brothers Tom and Ian Griffiths are stamping their mark on the scene with a series of standout productions. Don't Cry Wolf mixed progressive and classic vocal house with elements of bass and 2-step, resulting in a record made for the clubs. Not surprisingly, it got a lot of love from the likes of Boiler Room, Thump, Hunger, Annie Mac, Monki, Target and Pete Tong. They've followed it up with another brilliant release, the darker, low-end 'Rdie This Train', which was our Track of the Month last time out. Icarus' wealth of ideas is not surprising once you consider their background. Both boys played in bands (Ian on guitar, Tom on bass) before getting into production and DJing. As well as studying music, they have both bought their individual influences to the table – Tom's musical interest evolved from alternative rock to a spectrum of dance music whereas Ian was into drum & bass auteur LTJ Bukem – as well as shared inspiration from the soundtrack stylings of Cliff Martinez and Hans Zimmer. As well as working on new music and honing their far-reaching, contemporary sound, Icarus found time to play some standout DJ gigs this summer, including Lovebox After Dark and the All Gone Pete Tong stage at Creamfields. This autumn sees them embark on a full UK tour, hitting the likes of Warehouse Project, Motion, Switch and Fabric, as well as a special Xmas party back in Bristol.
