42 Issue 80 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net It's been a while since Potential Badboy dropped new material, but he's back, not just with a new single but with his debut album - good things come to those who wait! Out on DJ Hype's Playaz, the self-titled LP reminds us of Potential Badboy's impeccable production skills with 16 tracks of pure reggae-focused jungle madness. It has plenty of new material that'll prove that the old ways are still arguably the best. Along with the new are a few edits and VIPs of old tracks including the much loved 'Girlz'. It'll be a triumphant return for the jungle general that was once at the forefront of the jungle scene. Singing Fats 2 Stroke Audio Here's the DnB on our playlist this month: PlAylist It's the new imprint from the trio Ivy Lab When Stray, Halogenix and Sanre came together as Ivy Lab for the first time in 2013 they probably didn't imagine how successful it might have been. Three years on and the trio have gone from strength to strength both individually and as a collective group. The Ivy Lab project has released a bunch of top quality drum & bass mostly on their home label, Critical. Now they are taking the next step up as they announce a new label 20/20 LDN Recordings, born from their club event 20/20. The night was a showcase of the freshest music that exists 'in the hinterlands between footwork, jungle drum & bass, hip- hop and future beats', so we can probably expect more of the same from the label. Kicking things off on the new imprint is Ivy Lab's debut album. Entitled '20/20 Volume 1', the albums construction is slightly different from past productions from the trio. It has a 'clan-style approach'; the members have worked in different configurations rather than writing all the music together. '20/20 Volume 1' will not just be a handful of drum & bass tracks, the album will see them flew their production skills into a varied styles at different tempos. Don't worry though, Ivy Lab has made very clear that they aren't turning their back on drum & bass. 20/20 Volume One will be out in early November. Alix Perez is no stranger to any DnB head. His tight, industrial take on the liquid style has had ravers and DJs going mental for about a decade. This autumn he's back on Exit with a killer EP all focused on drum & bass. The title track 'Recall & Reflect' pulls you in with a blissful ambience. Relaxed tones quickly become a deep industrialised beat with an infinite bassline that would fill any room. Geared directly to the floor, the track combines a killer rolling beat and a dark drone of a bassline that will knock your teeth back. It's time to switch over to winter and this is the perfect intro.
