Judy currently serves as the chairperson for the Fine Arts Depart- ment at Mullen High School, where she is also the Lasallian youth moderator and Director of Service Learning. The Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award honors educators who exemplify the ideals of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, who is the patron saint of teachers. "Judy [exemplifies] what is best in our District's Lasallian educators, serving the mission with faith, passion and excellence," said Brother Donald Johnson, FSC, visitor for Lasallian District of San Francisco New Orleans. St. Vincent de Paul Robotics Program St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School launched its brand new robotics pro- gram last month as part of their STEM education initiative. STEM education is a national initiative to ensure that all students understand how to integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics to solve problems, a St. Vincent de Paul press release said. "We are committed to providing state-of-of-the-art education experiences for our students to prepare them for the future," St. Vincent de Paul principal Sister Maria Ivana Begovic said. The new robotics program will be integrated into the curriculum for kindergarten through eighth grade. Kindergarten and fi rst graders will have introductory exposure to robotics, while second through eighth grade will develop engineering schools through a multidisciplinary approach to learning, the press release said. Additionally, in Spring of 2016, St. Vincent de Paul will ož er two Robotics Clubs to further enhance learning opportunities for students. The new robotics program will help students to develop the "four C's": critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity.
