for more than 18 years and brings a depth of experience to these types of events that no other company can," said Andreoli. "I personally have been attending the races for more than 30 years and have had numerous job assignments and duties during that time. These ranged from working at road crossings, being part of SCORE operations, and working as part of the SCORE helicopter crew for four years. I have worked closely with SCORE Medical Director, Dr. Jeff Grange, over the last 10 years to help expedite medical services to SCORE members. Additionally, I have been able to establish close working relationships with Dr. Lopez from Baja Medical Center in San Felipe, and the Velmar Hospital in Ensenada. I am fortunate to have been able to work with the same team for the past 15 years. This includes Steve Guillen, Iliana S. Marin and my office manager, Janice Cook." Race Day Representation When SCORE events are scheduled, insurance adjuster, Miguel Rico and Qualitas Legal Representative Enrique Caracosa click into race mode working with Andreoli's team at IMAI. As insurance adjusters, Rico and Caracosa work year round with IMAI, but during pre- running and race days these men and their teams stand by to manage any situation that arises regarding Instant policyholders. "I have worked with hundreds of claimants from tourists, spectators, racers, and race teams," said Rico, who has attended every SCORE race since 2000. "I make it a point to work with IMAI to provide the best service possible to all SCORE members. The service provided by IMAI and Qualitas is unmatched when it comes to ensuring off-road events in Baja." According to Rico and Andreoli, one of the first things that racers and spectators need to realize during a race, including the pre-running sessions, is that there is no consistency of the types of incidents that trigger insurance claims. "Accidents range from small minor events up to and including rollovers and thefts," Rico said. "The best advice I give to all race teams and chasers is to slow down and give yourself extra time, especially at night. Chase teams and race crews should have co-drivers so driving duties can be shared." Rico also recommended that during pre-running of a race, accidents can occur here as well and the team is always available. "During pre- running, I am on-call day or night," says Rico. "Most of the time pre-running is quiet and there are not many incidents." As race day approaches, their tactics change to help accommodate clients and to ensure they are always available in key areas. "Two days before the race, I am stationed in Ensenada. During the next five days afterward, I work with crews from Instant, Qualitas, Cruz Rojas and SCORE." As one who has seen it all with SCORE off-road racing and one of the chief go-to men to untangle whatever automotive snag or emergency, is Enrique Caracosa, who heads up the Qualitas team. "I have been the Regional Manager for Qualitas since 1996 and the Legal Representative for the company. In the past I used to be the Deputy Attorney General for tourist protection in the county of Ensenada, B.C. Mexico from 1979 to 1989," SCORE IRONMAN WINNER TONY GERA'S FAMILY SURVIVED A ROLL-OVER DURING THE 2014 BAJA 1000, AS THEY WERE TRYING TO CATCH UP TO HIM TO PROVIDE BETTER LIGHTING.
