This year, The USA Hockey Foundation launches It Starts
With a Stick on Dec. 1. The goal is to raise $150,000, so
that 12,000 kids will take home a stick and fall in love
with the game. To make your donation to the campaign:

This is the second-annual "It Starts With
a Stick" campaign launched by The USA
Hockey Foundation. The goal is to raise
$150,000 during December to supply every
participant (approximately 12,000) with a new
hockey stick during a Try Hockey For Free
event in February.
"I chose to contribute to this program
because I believe hockey in America is on a
great path, and I feel it's important to help give
back to the game that has given me so much,"
McDonagh said.
"I believe in the game and all of the lessons
it teaches kids, whether you make it to the pros
or just play rec hockey for fun."
And now you can join the team by making
a highlight-reel assist with a tax-deductible
contribution to the "It Starts With a Stick"
campaign. Join McDonagh and Stepan and
help new families get hooked on hockey.
"I am excited and proud to be a part of this
terrific program," said Stepan, who grew up
playing youth hockey in Hastings, Minn. "It
is important to me to continue to help grow
the game I love and hopefully make a positive
impact on young kids' lives."
