The home-town team of Hernando Martinez, Rueben Best, and Miguel Rodriguez also persevered, and won their very first Baja 1000 in Class-5 1600. "The silt beds were very difficult and there were a lot of rocks," said Martinez. "It was a great course. We were strategic and did it right. It is amazing to win in our home city. We have been racing for a long time and this is our first SCORE Baja 1000 win and it feels great." While the SCORE Lites class had seven starters it was Marco Alcala, with his co-drivers Jose Robles and Juan Mayoral, from Mexicali, Mexico, who held on to win the class and take home a well-deserved victory. Larry Connor and Rod Hall Show Their Winning Ways There was no doubt that Larry Connor in the number 871 Trophy Truck Spec. would finish first in this class, after a dominant season in SCORE. Connor, along with teammates Sean Backus and Jason Ruane worked diligently through the difficult and crowded course to win the race in this class, along with a championship. "We are five for five and it isn't by chance but rather by hard work, dedication, and people," said Connor. Making his 49th appearance at the SCORE Baja 1000 was Off-Road Hall Of Fame Inductee and Veteran SCORE Racer Rod Hall, in his Stock Full number 8101 Hummer. Hall won the class with the help of his son Chad Hall, and VICTOR CESNA, WITH CO- DRIVER GERARDO IRIBE, WON IN CLASS 5 DESPITE HAVING TROUBLE IN THE SILT BEDS AND WITH ROCKS ON THE COURSE. LARRY CONNOR HAD NOT LOST A SCORE RACE IN THE ENTIRE 2015 RACE SEASON, AND COMPLETED THE SCORE BAJA 1000 IN THE SAME WAY.
