7 41 Issue 83 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net Ahead of the spectacular Renegade finale weekender coming up in February, we have words with the man behind the giant movement, Renegade Hardware. It's not long before the last ever Renegade Hardware event, how does it feel ending the era? It's definitely the end of a era! We have been at this for over 20 years so it's going to be strange ending it but I think the time is right. Describe your current mindset? The Renegade events are well know for their brilliance, and the label is widely regarded as one of the most forwarding thinking, how did you keep it one step ahead? In what ways has the music industry changed since you started out? For better or worst? We had our ears to the ground and always bought through new talent. Our heyday was also helped by our residency at the infamous End club and also by the quality of music we put out. Did you ever see Renegade standing strong 20+ years when you started up? We started it as a hobby more than a business. It was a way to keep on the straight and narrow. Looking back I think we have achieved a lot. What was your proudest moment with Renegade? I think winning the knowledge dnb awards for best label and best event was one of the proudest moments but to be honest just all the events we have put on over the years make me proud. Like I was saying when you look back on it, we accomplished so much! What do you see yourself doing once Renegade is done? I plan to open a restaurant.
