From a young age, Matisyahu was into rapping, but as he rediscovered his faith after a period of rebellion, both his musical interest and his religiosity grew. For Matisyahu, reggae has always been a major influence. In 2005, his reggae-rap single 'King Without a Crown gained him major recognition across the United States. While Judaism influences his music much like rastafarianism influenced that of Bob Marley, his music is packed with energy and feeling and ultimately, like Marley, a message of love and peace. GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS MATISYAHU He's a Jewish reggae-rapper preaching love to the masses Harry Metcalfe, aka Sleepy Time Ghost, and Jason Bradshaw, aka Jimmy Screech, form Ghost Writerz, the duo that sprung from the Unit 137 Soundsystem. Unit 137 is a South-East London collective formed of bass producers, instrumentalists and vocalists who forged a unique path into London bass sounds. Fusing reggae, hip hop and jungle, Ghost Writerz have created a unique, urban sound best represented by their latest album, 2015's GW'z All The Way. 'Wind up Your Waist', a single from the LP featuring Shiffa Dan, RTKal and G.O.L.D., is getting airplay from the likes of Toddla T, with the kind of dutty beat to draw together different crowds and get feet moving. 'Untold Stories', featuring Lidj Xylon, sees the Bristolian duo return with amazing results. Living up to their expectations, the record is a perfect example of modern roots music, fusing the soulful vocals perfectly with a crescendo of trumpets throughout. This blissful tune will have you nodding your head along to its simple, but effective rhythm. Get lost in the riddim that will take you to a beautiful place. The track has the vibes from this group oozing from it and is a testament to their success. ARTIST OF THE MONTH Major Lazer fans should hear Ghost Writerz' urban jungle fusion beats GHOST WRITERZ TRACK OF THE MONTH DUBKASM - UNTOLD STORIES Dubkasm are back with this amazing tune More @ guestlist.net/Reggae
