GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS DEEP IN THE JUNGLE ANTHEMS VOL 2 48 Issue 84 / 2016 Celebrating 15 years of great music Another massive compilation for jungle's rising stars Jungle music is enjoying a ride of success right now and one label that epitomises that is DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle. The label has had a successful few years and features all variations of jungle, frequently pushes the boundaries with cutting edge tracks. This new age jungle is hype, but nothing beats the vibes from the old skool style. With this in mind DJ Hybrid has set up a sister label, Back To The Jungle. It follows the success of the EP series baring the same name, and aims to "resurrect that original sound". The first releases are two blazing records from RMS/Maszive and Kartoon, and rest assured, there's plenty more we can expect from them this year! Dispatch have been around now a quarter of a century, and to celebrate reaching this impressive milestone they are having one hell of a party this month! They'll be taking over Lightbox and have called in some epic names to fit the bill to ensure that it's a night no one will forget. DLR and Scar make the list, along with an epic B2B set with Klute vs Dom & Roland. Well that's how you throw a 15th birthday party, we just wonder what's in store for their sweet 16. ALBUM OF THE MONTH: SR & DIGBEE - TURNING BACK Capturing the vibes from 90s raving and wrapping it up into 21 tracks The debut album from SR & Digbee dropped on 36 Hertz Recordings. The LP mixes loads of sounds and styles from 90s hardcore, jungle rave and drum & bass music. The results are impressive and keep listeners on their toes. A debut album is usually a long- winded but career defining moment and these guys have made it seem easy. There's plenty of breaks, deep basslines, and snappy samples. The combination works a treat, and this tested formula is trialled in several styles and tempos. It was Digbee's love for the old skool styles that got them in the studio working together. After a while, one of their demos found its way into the hands of the 36 Hertz boss, Vapour who wasted no time in signing them to his imprint. They've had a host of music circulated across the modern jungle scene - for example, 'Wildfire'. [Turning Back] is a massive album from this duo and it's been well received by the scene, after reaching the top 3 albums chart on Juno Download in its first week. If people didn't know of SR & Digbee before then they certainly do now.
