Join the students at their meet up on Monday, March 7 at 5:00pm. information provided by Student Voice Please share how you are a ChangeMaker by submitting your story to sxsw.tv/qtk Change—it's something we embrace at SXSWedu as a sign of collaboration, exploration and innovation. We love hearing the inspiring stories of how SXSWedu has served as a platform for change. Last year we celebrated EdTechWomen, a leadership organization for women and their supporters which originally convened at the 2013 event as a social and networking event. This year, we want to celebrate another ChangeMaker—Student Voice, a for-students-by-students nonprofit organization spearheading a social movement to integrate student voices into the global education conversation. Student Voice's story starts in 2012, when students around the world formed Student Voice with the creation of the #StuVoice Twitter chats. Student Voice has worked to transform the digital dialogue into real life action and developed a physical gathering called Student Voice Live! Conversations that were once confined to 140 characters blossomed into face-to-face meaningful exchanges. In September 2014, Student Voice first announced their partnership with SXSWedu, aiming to celebrate student engagement and participation at the 2015 SXSWedu Conference & Festival. Throughout the two-day summit, The State and Future of Student Rights, teachers and students gathered to discuss student rights issues that they had identified in their schools. It was here that they introduced the formal concept of the Student Bill of Rights and brainstormed the pillars that make for a quality education. On September 21, 2015, six months after their convening at SXSWedu, Student Voice launched their Student Bill of Rights online platform to serve as a new student-driven set of qualitative standards that will certify that all students are part of implementing improved opportunities to achieve their desired educational outcomes. This year at SXSWedu we are excited to see even more collaborations for change. We celebrate all attendees for their contributions to education and are excited to learn more about how you have evolved as a result of your participation at SXSWedu.
