As they became less rare, and ultimately ubiquitous, most, while valued for their utility, lost their value and romance as important objects. Fortunately, dedicated individuals remain who still love books as books and are committed to preserving original editions of important works. The 49th California International Antiquarian Book Fair, held at the Pasadena Convention Center, brings together over 200 such booksellers arriving from all over the world to partake in festivities that provide a wonderful opportunity for the larger public to discover books that are not only rare and beautiful in themselves, but their contents and their authors are often of great historical importance. This book fair is considered to be one of the largest and most impressive showcases of antiquarian books in North America. The International Antiquarian Book Fair offers visitors a chance to learn about and purchase rare and highly valuable books of all shapes and sizes, as well as manuscripts, autographs, graphics and photographs. This year, for Alice in Wonderland aficionados, the delight of a lifetime awaits. A collection of rare and unique items from the Cassady Lewis Carroll Collection will be on display. The vast collection includes over 3,000 books, manuscripts and objects that were created by Charles Dodgson, better known by his pseudonym, Lewis Carroll, the name he used when he penned the classic Alice in Wonderland.
