NEWS: BAILEY IS BACK ON THE RADIO Eveson returns to Ingredients Records as Dead Man's Chest Bailey returns to the airwaves presenting his own Intabeats show on Mi-Soul on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month On his new show Bailey will be spinning the freshest new material from the world of jungle/drum & bass, alongside the music that shaped the genre today. It's a great return to the radio for this drum & bass representer who's previously hosted a drum & bass show on BBC Radio 1xtra. He is joining Mi-Soul, the station founded by Gordon Mac and Martin Strivens, who set up Kiss 100 back in 1985. They carried the station through from an illegal pirate station to the first legal radio to exclusively play black music. After a break Gordon and Martin returned with new station Mi-Soul with a team of highly experienced DJs, including Ronnie Herel, Jumping Jack Frost and Femi Fem, playing house, reggae, hip hop, jungle, and much more. Bailey joins this already impressive list of station DJs in the drum & bass show, alternating the Wednesday nights with Jumping Jack Frost's official drum & bass show, from 11pm till 1am. Drum and bass producer Eveson returns as Dead Man's Chest with his third EP under the moniker, Farseer. The EP flaunts the project's signature psychedelic art by the artist himself - Eveson is a print maker as well as producer and DJ. The four track EP brings jungle right back to 1993, flaunting slowed down beats and luscious textures. Opener 'Unnatural Mystic' is a highlight, with DMC's tripped out synths over deep, old school drums. The ragga element is strong and ties the track together. TRACK OF THE MONTH: DEAD MAN'S CHEST - UNNATURAL MYSTIC ARTIST OF THE MONTH: BOSTON Welsh drum & bass producer Boston is shaking things up with his graceful style The fresh faced, Cardiff born producer has been snapped up by Break's formidable Symmetry Records. Combining tranquil melodies with precision rolling basslines, this trained musician produces a new sound that is unique to him by incorporating sounds and samples from instruments with the electronic beats. His latest work, the [Panoramic] EP is possibly his best yet, perfectly summing up his style with four rolling techy tracks all with stunning soundscapes. It may still be early days for this Welsh producer, but we're sure the best is yet to come! 42 ISSUE 86 / 2016 DRUM & BASS PLAYLIST Here's the drum and bass on our playlist this month: SM1 SpectraSoul Ferocious Flow Sikka Intermission (Break Remix) Chroma Lime Scartip
