never got out of the truck
during their entire section of the
course. The next morning, after
12 hours of punishment, they
brought the first Minotaur™ in
history across the finish line
of the SCORE Baja 1000.
"This was a tremendous
SCORE Baja 1000 race," Kroeker
said. "We had some bad luck
with the GPS and axle seal
causing many hours of penalties
and downtime. Nevertheless,
the entire experience put the
vehicle and engine through
a grueling test, with results
that spoke for themselves.
"While the truck didn't win
the Trophy Truck class it
finished in 19th place, and
beat the winning Class 8 truck
by 10 hours," Kroeker said.
"Accomplishing that during
the toughest race in the world
is a great accomplishment,
and provides an authentic
statement about the DNA of
the Minotaur™, the KORE Race
Team, and the dedication and
commitment of our partners."
Once it was all said and done,
the 2015 48th SCORE Bud Light
Baja 1000 would be considered
by many veteran off-road racers
as one of the toughest since it
began in 1967. Out of 46 Trophy
Trucks to bolt out of the starting
gate, the #12 Class 8 running in
the Trophy Truck division had a
respectable run by any standard.
Team KORE set the goal of
building the Minotaur™ brand,
challenged their engineering
skills and team performance,
all while getting their licks
in with the Gustav V10. As a
team, they came away with
tons of data and information
that will eventually find its way
into KORE off-road products.
Not a bad reason to punch
above one's weight class. SJ
