Teklife's first release is as strong as the legacy of Dj Rashad, late founder of Teklife and footwork pioneer Teklife is a name which is slowly becoming recognised around the world as a unique label in electronic music, representing the genre known as Footwork in Chicago, it's place of origin, and beyond. The crew which started out as Ghettotechnicianz and reformed as Teklife in 2010 have released Afterlife as their first album, and what an album. Drawing from collaborations between the late Dj Rashad and other Teklife members, it busts out tune after tune, including classic footwork and experimental beats. 'Come Close', by Dj Rashad and Dj Phil, is chilled and graceful, referencing UK sounds like garage, whilst other tracks are more in debt to the ghetto tech that so heavily influenced the formation of footwork. It is fitting that the label's first release is a retrospective homage to label founder and footwork pioneer Dj Rashad, who tragically passed away in 2014. Rest in peace Rashad and roll on Teklife. NEW RELEASES FKJ is a talented young Frenchman who oozes positive vibes. Mella Dee is back with some fire. FKJ makes the perfect sound track for summer. Taking the long approach he records all the parts of his music individually and the results are magical! The end product is the sweetest electro beats that you wanna be blasting out all summer. He's one artist who will offer a real performance live that you just have to witness this summer. He's been billed for loads of festivals this season including Paris' We Love Green festival, Amsterdam's Open Air festival and Malta's TheSoundYouNeed festival so we really have no excuse! Landing on DEXT, Doncaster's rave expert kills it with a hefty 4 tracked EP Deep Soul that soaks in all the flavours from the 90s with a slick modern edge. The title track sums up the entire EP. Amens clash hard and soulful vocals sit perfectly over the warm bass tones - you'll lose yourself very quickly in this record that neatly folds together varying styles. Up on remix duties is Endian who fixes up a dangerous techno version, switching the amen break for the dark pulsating warehouse standard drums. Huge works from one of the UK's most exiting producers.
