Pioneer High School Simmons isn't on the bigger side for high school linebackers — standing 6‑1 and weighing just 199 pounds — but he is a com‑ plete football player. He makes several big plays on defense in every game and also shines as a running back for the Pioneers. Because of his size and lack of top‑end speed, he falls between being a linebacker and a safety, but he can absolutely play. Simmons is listed as the No. 5 player in Michigan and the No. 214 overall player in the country. The four‑star committed to Ohio State in March. 19. Chester Graves, DE Kansas City (Mo.) Park Hill High School T h e 6 ‑ 4 , 2 2 0 ‑ p o u n d Graves displays natural pass‑rushing ability, using his speed and quickness to beat slow‑footed linemen off the edge. He doesn't weigh that much but is noted for his strength, giving him a great combination of skills as a pass rusher. Ri‑ vals.com lists him as a four‑star recruit, the No. 2 player in Missouri and the No. 218 overall prospect in the land. Entering the summer, Graves had offers from 10 schools, including Ohio State, Wis‑ consin, Iowa and Nebraska. 20. James Hudson, DE Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic High School The 6‑5, 271‑pound Hud‑ son is a solidly built defen‑ sive end with the potential to grow into an interior player. Rivals.com rated him as a four‑star talent, the No. 8 recruit in Ohio and the No. 229 overall player nationally. Hudson had announced for Kentucky but reopened his commitment just days before visiting Ann Arbor in late May. Michigan offered him a scholarship, joining Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and others. 21. Amir Riep, CB Cincinnati Colerain High School Riep is a very smooth, long‑armed corner, who just makes everything look easy. It doesn't seem to matter if he's defending taller receiv‑ ers or quicker slot types, he sticks to everyone and makes plays whenever the ball is thrown his way. Rivals.com rates the 6‑0, 180‑pounder as a four‑star prospect, the No. 9 player in the state of Ohio and the No. 236 overall recruit in the country. Riep's impressive offer list includes Michigan, Ohio State, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan State, Oregon and Florida. 22. Hunter Rison, WR Ann Arbor (Mich.) Skyline High School The son of Michigan State wide receiver legend Andre Rison, Hunter is go‑ ing to follow in dad's foot‑ steps and play his college ball in East Lansing. The 5‑11, 190‑pound receiver was committed to Michigan State but re‑ opened his recruitment after getting offered by Alabama. The decommitment didn't last long, and he's now a solid pledge for the Spartans. According to Rivals.com, Rison is a four‑ star prospect, the No. 6 senior in Michigan and the No. 237 overall player in the country. 23. Jarell White, ATH Cincinnati La Salle High School White was considered a running back by Rivals.com before making a decision in April that he would concentrate on defense in order to get ready for college. The 5‑10, 200‑pounder has the frame and skill set to be a good DB, but many still think he should be a ball carrier at the next level. He has great quick‑ ness and changes direction very well. The four‑star prospect's offer list includes Purdue, Iowa and Illinois. 24. Kevin Jarvis, OG Park Ridge (Ill.) Maine South High School At 6‑5, 315 pounds, Jar‑ vis has college‑ready size with a year of high school still to go. He is rated a four‑star player and the na‑ tion's No. 246 overall re‑ cruit by Rivals.com. Jarvis committed to Michigan State March 31 over offers from Auburn, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and Wisconsin. 25. Tyler Beach, OT Port Washington (Wis.) High School Beach is very well built offensive tackle prospect at 6‑6 and 280 pounds. The Rivals.com four‑star recruit is staying home and com‑ mitted to Wisconsin in early April. ❏ Tracking The Best In The Class Of 2016 Last year's top 25 in the Midwest stayed primarily in the region, but a few ventured to national programs.
