176 ■ THE WOLVERINE 2016 FOOTBALL PREVIEW MICHIGAN TOP 10 Malone‑Hatcher committed to Michigan in early June over offers from Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, UCLA, Wisconsin and several others. 8. Phillip Paea, OL Berrien Springs High School Paea's profile has in‑ creased since finishing his junior season, with the 6‑4, 277‑pound lineman pick‑ ing up offers from Arizona, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Oregon and USC. A three‑star prospect and the nation's No. 13 offensive guard, Paea committed to Michigan in early April of this year. 9. Kahlee Hamler, WR IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The Orchard Lake, Mich., native is light‑ ning in a bottle at 5‑9, 152 pounds. He's trying hard to get to 170 before the start of his season, but size is never going to be one of his assets. Speed and quickness, how‑ ever, definitely are. Hamler — who is listed as a three‑star pros‑ pect by Rivals.com — holds offers from Ari‑ zona, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Nebraska, Penn State and West Vir‑ ginia. 10. Jaylen Kelly-Powell, S Detroit Cass Technical High School The 6‑0, 180‑pound Kelly‑ Powell is an extremely smart, instinctive and physical pres‑ ence in the back of the sec‑ ondary. The three‑star player and nation's No. 24 safety is dissects plays quickly and is a force in defending the run game. Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Or‑ egon and Wisconsin are among the more than 30 schools that have offered. ❏ 1. MARQUAN MCCALL 6-3, 323 • OL • Oak Park High School McCall has been on the scene for a while thanks to his size and skill set as a 323-pounder. He has very long arms and is extremely light on his feet. McCall is considered an early four-star prospect and is one of the early Rivals100 members in the 2018 class. He holds offers from Michigan and Ole Miss, along with a few Mid-American Conference (MAC) schools. 2. KALON GERVIN 5-11, 175 • CB • Detroit Cass Technical High School The versatile Gervin was once listed as an athlete, but has now settled into the cornerback position. He plays very physically and sticks to wide receivers' hips in cover - age. He holds early offers from California, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Tennes- see and Wisconsin, among others. 3. ANTWAN REED 6-7, 285 • OL • Muskegon High School Reed, a long, lean, athletic tackle prospect, carries his 285 pounds very well, but the big man needs to work on his energy level and desire to compete. He already holds offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennes- see and Virginia Tech. 4. AIDAN HUTCHINSON 6-4, 227 • DE • Dearborn Divine Child Hutchinson, who is the son of former Wolverine defen- sive tackle Chris Hutchinson, has begun to make solid im- pressions around the Midwest at camps and other events. LSU, Michigan, Nebraska and Wisconsin are among his early offers. 5. KOLIN DEMENS 6-2, 200 • LB • Detroit Country Day School Demens is a tad thin right now, but he runs extremely well and has very long limbs as an outside linebacker. He's athletic and versatile, with the ability to play fullback and tight end, along with linebacker. His older brother, Kenny, had a very solid career at U-M. Michigan, Michigan State and Nebraska have offered Demens. 6. REGGIE PEARSON 5-10, 180 • S • River Rouge High School Pearson has the natural athletic ability to be a big- time safety and couples that with phenomenal instincts. Pearson is around the ball more than most receivers are whether it's during games, drills or seven-on-seven competitions. He and his dad are both very high on the Wolverines, but Pearson had not received an offer from the Maize and Blue yet entering the summer. 7. OVIE OGHOUFO 6-2, 194 • LB • Farmington Hills Harrison High School Oghoufo has played on defense and at wide receiver and tight end for Harrison, but linebacker/rush end ap - pears to be his position at the next level. He's still a little thin, but he's long and very athletic. He has offers from most of the MAC as well as Iowa State. He's been to Michi- gan several times and is firmly on Michigan State's radar as well. 8. DEANDRE SQUARE 6-0, 196 • LB • Detroit Cass Technical High School Square has had to bide his time on a talented Cass Tech team, but is poised to break out as a junior. As a sophomore, he won the linebacker MVP award at the Rivals Camp Series in Columbus. He uses fluid athleticism and length to cover tight ends and backs and to pursue ball carriers and quarterbacks. Cincinnati and Syracuse were his only two offers entering the summer, but more playing time as a junior will certainly result in that number growing. 9. BRANDON GRAY 6-5, 175 • WR • Southfield High School Gray's height makes him a true red-zone threat, and if there's a jump ball in the air, he's going to come down with it. He has an extensive basketball background and uses that to his advantage on the football field. He's not the fleetest of foot but he runs solid routes, gets open and catches contested passes. He had several MAC offers entering the summer. 10. ROBERT DANIEL 5-11, 167 • CB • Oak Park High School Daniel had just two MAC offers entering the summer, but that list is going to grow during his junior year. He is extremely physical and a sure tackler at cornerback. He is a well built at 5-11, 167 pounds with long arms, which allow him to play bigger than he's listed. ALL NEW!
