Issue 40 / 2012 ALBUM OF THE MONTH Defected In The House Ibiza '12 Mixed by Simon Dunmore HOUSE / TECHNO 31 www.guestlist.net GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS PAUL SVENSON 7 The Ibiza calling for this summer! Defected, the UK record label specializing in House music, re- leases Defected In The House Ibiza '12. This is a three mix re- lease showcasing the impres- sive diversity of house music that Defected now champions. We don't tend to recommend this kind of compilation al- bums, but with summer season around the corner, it's a must to present some of the tunes that will be played out this summer at the White Island, Ibiza. Mixed by the label's founder Simon Dunmore, taking in tracks from Kings Of Tomorrow, Groove Armada, Flashmob, Kaytronik, Claptone and Roy Davis Jr, this is more than simply a show- case of the latest and great- est, with Dunmore selecting a number of records that have soundtracked his epic journey and career through house mu- sic. EVENT PREVIEW Blink - Fachwerk 15TH JUNE @ HIDDEN This young, talented artist from the Côte d'Azur is a definite one to watch this summer. We recommend a French DJ with a huge sound! Having performed on the shores of the Mediterranean for the last couple of years, DJ Paul Svenson popped up on our radar only recently, even though he's actually got a pretty big back catalogue of tracks. Child of the French Riviera, Paul Svenson landed his first gigs at private parties between Monaco and St Tropez. After participating in the Movida show in 2010, he started playing in the best clubs around. He makes the podcast "The Ozer Soundz" with which he collaborates with a lot of great DJs coming from all around the world, such as Manuel de la Mare, Mathieu Bouthier, Michael Feiner and Greg Cerron. Last year, he became the resident DJ of Only for DJ's, the famous clubbing magazine. Thanks to his mixes, spacey and deep, Svenson has grown in popularity extremely fast in the last two years. He adds a new dimension to live sets, parties and anywhere he makes noise. In a nutshell, his sound hits the spot! A demonstration to any elec- tronic source Mike Dehnert's label has been pushing raw, industrial, crude techno and analogue-polished house 25 records strong. Fachwerk's heavy and hard-hitting perfor- mances have enjoyed nights at the world famous Berghain (Berlin) and now brings its sound to London for one night only, alongside fellow label buddies, Roman Lindau and Sascha Rydell supported by Liminal and GetSome resi- dents. It's all about the 25th release of Berlin's legendary house and techno label. Let's celebrate it! James Ford and Jas Shaw met Simon Lord and Alex MacNaughten at Manchester Uni. They de- cided to form a band called Simian. James and Jas never set out to play as the rhythm section of a traditional band, preferring to persevere with the electronic music they'd begun producing at uni. They began to DJ together as Simian Mobile Disco, playing electro to ravers whenever they could. Two guys, one remix. Simain Mobile Disco have re- leased on Kitsune and I'm A Cliche, and produced albums for The Mystery Jets, Klaxons and Arctic Monkeys. 13th July The Mid @Chicago 17th August Sonic Mania 2012 @Chiba, Japan 25th August Mysteryland 2012 @Hoofd- dorp, Netherlands 26th August South West Four 2012 @ Clapham Common
