20 ISSUE 88 / 2016 FESTIVALS Back for a 7th time, Farr Festival is venturing deeper into the woods that they call home. Happening between the 14th and 16th July, Farr brings together a diverse collection of music's most forward thinking names. It turns the usually tranquil woodlands into a club - a club with trees, nature and that. They've sorted some of the best selectors from Europe and beyond to head down and spin records to a crowd who'll be more than up for it. Covering a variety of genres, Farr caters for even the most fussy ears and bring only the best of the best making sure you leave with you ears fully satisfied. This year the festival is bigger than ever, both in size and epicness. Bygrave Woods in Hertfordshire isn't ready for this years hefty session they're planning that includes Ben UFO, Joy Orbison, dBridge, and many more heading down and shaking the trees down to their roots. What are you waiting for? Get you tickets now and be a Woodland Warrior fighting against dull weekends! Festival pros the Flaming Lips will be bringing their psychedelic pop-rock and Lianne Le Havas are sure to bring in a big crowd, drawn in by the summer vibes and her stunning vocals. Experts in the folktronica field Crystal Fighters are also one of our must-sees of the weekend. In the dance corner, Jackmaster and the house legend that is Derrick Carter will be supervising some serious tunes and making sure that the parties after Sunset will be carrying on into the wee hours. One of the things Wilderness has a knack of doing is bringing out a completely different side to an artist that you would never have imagined. This year Goldie is performing with The Heritage Orchestra to breathe new life into his classic DnB album 'Timeless,' and give it the orchestral feel. Can't wait for the take on that! There's always room for something way off the beaten track at Wilderness, and acts such as Kasai Masia will bring the traditional sound from their nomadic heritage in the Congo with an urban twist. Wilderness's philosophy is that their festival helps you to correct the balance of the busyness in your life and to open your mind to new experiences. This certainly won't be hard with the range of creative pursuits they offer coupled with the all-round hedonistic feel and stunning surroundings... Becoming a force to be reckoned with on the festival circuit, Wilderness is back with more banquets and creative explorations than you can shake a croquet club at. WILDERNESS FESTIVAL FARR FESTIVAL
