GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: PHILLY BLUNT - THE ALBUM 44 ISSUE 88 / 2016 Fatman D & Biological Beats are throwing Young Guns a massive 5th birthday bash! V's jungle offshoot releases it's first album after a staggering 21 years in the game! Philly Blunt have established themselves as the go to label for the jungle massive. Heavy duty rollers, creative percussion loops and juicy basslines are what they've become globally renowned for. Throughout their history they've been responsible for some proper bangers. Philly Blunt is a definitive guide for what jungle rollers should be. You can probably imagine then that their first album, after 21 years will be gold dust. And you'd be right to. Rolling through 20 tracks The Album sums up the whole concept of Philly Blunt in one easy, compact format. Featuring all the right nods forward and to the past, Philly Blunt lay down the jungle law. This July Fatman D & Biological Beats are heading to Fire for a big night. Taking over 3 rooms, they've got a big line of the best DJs and MCs for Young Guns 5th birthday. Playing across the night is big names like Sub Zero, Nicky Blackmarket & Voltage with Rough Tempo taking up hosting of room 2. Looks set to be a big birthday bash! ALBUM OF THE MONTH: L 33 - KARATE L 33 dropped his second studio album last week, and it's heavy AF. Well what was to be expected from an album from Jade's twisted imprint Eatbrain? The label has gathered a huge following for its mindblowingly technical neurofunk style - and L 33's Karate LP is the perfect example. The Bulgarian producer has been a regular on Eatbrain now for a while, and this album is possible his best work yet. Amounting to 15 tracks, the Karate LP adds to his already explosive arsenal of sounds. He rinses the neurofunk style making for some heavy, brain melting listening. From the get go it's pure energy - aggressive, unadulterated energy as neurofunk should be. Make no mistake this is a neurofunk album so probably not ideal Sunday afternoon listening. It's brutal, hyperactive and so technical - but used in the right situations will cause complete carnage. The producers second album makes sure we know he's a master of his craft - he can delve deep into his style and tear out 15 very different tracks.
