GUESTLIST 2016 / ISSUE 89 9 GUESTLIST 1. NEVER SLEEP ANGRY As obvious as it is, it's so so important. If you're going to bed still mad at each other, you'll wake up guess how? Mad at each other. That or you'll be resenting each other all day. Do whatever you need to do to make peace before bedtime and wake up the next day realising that it was probably all a bit silly anyway. 2. CHANGE YOUR APPROACH When you're having a disagreement, rather than seeing it as you vs them, try and approach it as you AND them versus the issue. You're not fighting each other, you're fighting the problem so no nasty names, no indirect digs and no passive aggressiveness. Approach the issue healthily and figure out how you'll overcome it without hurting each other. 3. KNOW WHEN THE OTHER NEEDS SPACE If someone tells you they want to cool down or they want to be alone, don't chase them or force them to speak. Everyone deals with conflict differently so if someone wants to take a time out, respect it and give them their space. That way you'll have time to cool down too and you can approach the problem with a clearer head. 4. LISTEN TO LISTEN, NOT TO RESPOND Have you noticed that we have conversations, most of the time we're listening to respond? It's easy to do so and almost natural but it just doesn't work. When someone's speaking, listen to truly understand their words and feelings rather than thinking of how you should respond. Pause if you need to. Be silent if you want. Just give them the chance to speak and be heard before you make your next move. You'll notice the difference. More @guestlist.net What's the saying? If you don't argue, you don't care? Whilst that's a bit of a stretchy statement, it's true that arguing is completely healthy in any kind of friendship/relationship. What isn't true is the BS that people spew out about "if she doesn't argue, she doesn't love you" and what else have you. Some people genuinely don't conflict and some people do. The key is knowing whether you can work through the conflicts or not/ What switches it up and makes it negative is all about the communication. Here are our tips for keeping it real and communicating more effectively: All the donations will be given to Breast Cancer Care UK. The one who bids the highest gets to spend the day at the Bristolian's studio and have him overseeing their time there. He launched the auction from his Twitter account. The Portishead star explained that 'I will write with you/ band in my studio for one day'. It's open to everyone, Barrow also stating that it 'could be a band or a solo artist any type of music'. The one who bids the highest will land a day at the state of the art Barrow's Ivada's Studios and have the trip hop legend on hand to offer his expert advice. The bidding closes on July 24th and at the time of writing had raised £4,197 with the highest bid at £200.
