14 AUGUST 27-SEPTEMBER 9, 2016 | DENVER CATHOLIC Around the Archdiocese Catholic school teachers from schools throughout the Archdiocese of Denver gathered Aug. 17 for a workshop in preparation for the widespread implementation of Learning Ally in all 36 schools. PHOTO BY AARON LAMBERT Back-to-school mania I t's that time of year again, when teach- ers fuel up on coŒee and students switch the brain back on to begin another school year. Thankfully, neither the teachers nor students of Denver Catholic schools appear to be kicking and screaming that summer's over; quite the contrary, in fact. Whether it's at a special Mass for principals, a workshop for teachers or even the first day of school, Denver Catho- lics are all smiles at the school year starting up again. At a special Mass for local Catholic school principals Aug. 8, Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila challenged the educators to first and foremost pursue a relationship with Christ in their work, so they may lead others to him. Caedmon, 5th grader at Our Lady of Lourdes, opens a box of school supplies. Miss Hicks, 3rd grade teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes, reads a story to her students. Sophie, 1st grader at Our Lady of Lourdes, smiles with excite- ment. PHOTOS BY ANDREW WRIGHT
