SEPTEMBER 2016: TOP 5 MOVIE RELEASES 14 ISSUE 91 / 2016 FILM The BFI London Film Festival is such an important event for the world of cinema, and it is turning sixty. The British Film Institute London Film Festival (simply BFI London Film Festival) is an annual film festival held in London, running in the second half of October with cooperation from the British Film Institute. It usually screens up to 300 films, along with documentaries and shorts from countries all over the world. BFI gives the unique opportunity to moviegoers of watching a first preview of incredible new movies of the new season. The festival welcomes leading stars from across the international film industry. This year's line-up includes buzzed movies as Dev Pavel's Lion, Brie Larson's Free Fire along with Sundance's critical acclaimed Manchester by the Sea, Isabelle Huppert's Elle, Malick's Vojage of Time, Stone's Snowden which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, The Birth of a Nation,Chazelle's La La Land, and Anna Asante's United Kingdom will open the festival. The movie depicts the true story of Seretse Khama. The festival will also include the return of Tom Ford, after the incredible A Single Man, the director's new movie is Nocturnal Animals with Jake Gyllenhaal. Key filmmaking talent due to attend the Festival's gala and special presentation screenings include: Rosamund Pike, Laura Carmichael, Jack Davenport, Ben Wheatley, Sharlto Copley, Cillian Murphy, Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman,Damien Chazelle, Kenneth Lonergan, Tom Ford, Mira Nair, Lupita Nyong'o, Oliver Stone, Xavier Dolan and many others. Hunger's and 12 Years a Slave's Steve McQueen will receive its highest accolade: the BFI Fellowship. The festival will proclaim its Best Film, last year it has been named so, the Greek comedy Chevalier, directed by Athina Rachel Tsangari. If you love Cinema, this festival is just an event that you can not miss for the world. The 60th BFI London Film Festival will take place 5-16 October 2016. REVIEW: BFI: LONDON FILM FESTIVAL 2016 Miss peregrine's home for peculiar children Eva Green stars in this new Tim Burton's movie about children with special abilities.Jake Portman is forced to travel to a mysterious island in order to discover the truth of what really happened in a terrible tragedy during his childhood. The Girl on the Train Emily Blunt and Justin Theroux are the protagonists of this mindblowing movie based on the psychological thriller novel of the British writer Paula Hawkins. Rachel Watson takes the train to work every day and she starts to fantasize about a young couple living down the street from her ex-husband. After seeing something shocking, she is entangled in a troublesome mystery. The Birth of a Nation An American period drama film which is loosely based on the story of Nat Turner, the enslaved man who led a slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia, in 1831. Nate Parker directed and starred in the movie. The movie has been praised by critics for its powerful story. Manchester By The Sea At the London Film Festival, Manchester By The Sea will debut. The critical acclaimed movie starring Casey Affleck is the story of the sudden death of Joe Chandler and his younger brother Lee who is made legal guardian of Joe's son Patrick Lee. He will have to return to his hometown, facing what he left behind. Inferno Tom Hanks returns to star in the sequel of Dan Brown's Da Vinci's Code. Robert Langdon is in a hospital room in Florence with no memory of what has happened over the last few days.
