Giggs is back in the game with 'Landlord', featuring tracks 'Lock doh' and 'Whippin Excursion' Giggs is bouncing back into the scene with his South London flair, dropping his new album 'Landlord' which smashed straight to No.2 in the UK Album Chart. This year Giggs has made appearances at Lovebox, Reading and Leeds, and very recently won a Rated Award for artist of the year, where he brought the energy, and got the whole room popping to 'Whippin Excursion'. NFTR discuss the new album, his past tunes and everything in between with the Landlord himself. Giggs will be with Skepta shutting down at the Warehouse Project in October. There's an impressive line up representing for grime and hip-hop, so make sure you're there. Tickets will be available soon here. The 22-year old London-based Nigerian singer, songwriter and painter Nissi has just dropped her debut single 'Pay Attention' The NY collaborator and producer extraordinaire teams up with Novelist The stirring and poignant track is also the lead single from her forthcoming debut EP titled Downtown. The record sees Nissi speaking out against the killings, brutality, and discrimination based on race, gender, religion and ethnicity, and calling out for more solidarity among people. Opening with a sample from the opening monologue of the 1986 Fela Kuti classic 'Teacher Don't Teach Me Nonsense', 'Pay Attention' takes a politically charged stance from start to finish. In the middle of it all, Nissi also highlights her strong song- writing dexterities and commanding vocal display, with superb pop, jazz and reggae sensibilities. Like the rest of Nick's upcoming album Relationships, "Can't Tell Me Nothing" was recorded in-person at his Greenpoint studio, The Space Pit. Novelist sums up the track in this Instagram post: "Nick Hook - This man gave me a new outlook on life...He reiterated to me that FREEDOM starts in the mind and to do what you want with 100% of your energy". Having lent his touch to projects from Run The Jewels, A$AP Ferg and Hudson Mohawke, Hook steps forward to release his own album of collabs. 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' is a testament to that mischievous attitude and creative spirit. ONE TO WATCH: NISSI TRACK OF THE MONTH: NICK HOOK FEAT.
