IN MEMORIAM BAJA BOB GORDON LEGENDARY SCORE RACER AND MENTOR The SCORE family mourns the loss of one of its biggest stars as we remember multi- time SCORE Baja champion and legendary racing mentor Baja Bob Gordon, father of Robby, Robyn, and Beccy Gordon. Gordon tragically died at 68 years of age in September and SCORE recalls his accomplishments in the desert, and his influence in the careers of other racers. While Gordon and his three children all have won SCORE races, he was also a mentor to racers like six-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson, as well as SCORE champion racer Ryan Arciero. In the SCORE Baja 500 and the SCORE Baja 1000, Bob Gordon was nearly unparalleled for over a decade. Racing primarily in the old Class 2 for unlimited two-seat open-wheel desert race cars, Gordon was a three-time winner of the SCORE Baja 500 (1980, 1987 and 1998). He was also the overall race winner in 1980 and 1987. In the SCORE Baja 1000, Baja Bob won his class five times (1986, 1987, 1988, 1990 and 1998). His class wins in 1987 and 1990 were also the overall wins. In 1990, his co-drivers were his son Robby and daughter Beccy. In the 1998 SCORE Baja 1000 that started in Santo Tomas and finished in La Paz, Gordon won his class with Ryan Arciero as his second driver. Bob Gordon has left an indelible mark not only on his gifted offspring, but also SCORE Baja racing where he is truly one of the SCORE racing legends. In this year's SCORE Baja 1000, Robby Gordon will honor his father by using his Dad's number 200 on his SCORE Trophy Truck instead of his normal No. 77. CENTERLINE IMAGES GETSOMEPHOTO GETSOMEPHOTO
