16 NOVEMBER 12-25, 2016 | DENVER CATHOLIC The Winter Pilgrim goes to Japan Everybody's favorite pilgrim, Ann Sieben, recently left for another pil- grimage, this time across the country of Japan. However, she didn't do so before engaging in a riveting Q&A session with a few of her admirers. On Oct. 27, Good Shepherd Parish and School held a farewell Mass for Sieben before leaving for her pilgrimage. They prayed for safe travels and blessings during her journey, which is intended to be a sort of "pre-pil- grimage" in preparation for a pilgrimage she's embarking on next year to commemorate the 200 th anniversary of St. Rose of Lima's arrival to the United States in 1818. Following the Mass, Sieben was kind enough to answer questions from some of the students of God Shepherd about her life as a pilgrim. The stu- dents were very interested in her and the many pilgrimages she's been on, asking questions that covered everything from the longest pilgrimage she's done to how many wolves/rattlesnakes/tigers she's encountered on her travels. Based on their enthusiasm, we think there might be some future pilgrims in the making over at Good Shepherd! Mullen High School football coach Tom Thenell is putting the Mustangs back on the map, leading them to earn the second seed the 5A state playoƒs. Of course, Thenell doesn't want the credit. "This is about kids. This is about a school and a community. It's way bigger than any individual. Certainly bigger than me," Thenell told the Denver Post in a Sept. 27 article. Thenell himself is a Mullen graduate from the class of 1980, and this year marks his fifth season as coach. The Mustangs schooled Westminster High School 41-0 during their Sept. 23 bout, and dominated ThunderRidge High School 55-21 on Oct. 28. These are but a few examples that show the Mustangs are slowly working their way to the top of the local high school football circuit. As of this writing, they're 8-2. Turns out playing for the glory of the Lord has its perks after all. Keep it up, Mustangs! TV MASS FOR THE HOMEBOUND COLORADO PUBLIC TELEVISION, CPT12 SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13 7:00 a.m. English, Fr.
