ST. MARK'S CATHOLIC GRADE SCHOOL 5 and they have three granddaughters. Patricia is a retired LPN. She just attended her 50th AOL/SI class reunion. She is always proud to say she went to St. Mark's School. John McAtee Jr. '63 enjoyed a 30-year career with the federal government. He went from college to the Marine Corps to the U.S. Marshall Service to the FBI. He is enjoying a happy and active retirement in Arizona. Christopher Keating '64 enjoyed his 50th class reunion in 2014. He looks forward to the next reunion. "Can we do a 55th?" he asks. Joe Spears '67 passed away on October 8, 2013, as the result of a motorcycle accident. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his children, and grandchildren. Joe's daughter, Becky, and her husband, David, reside in Davenport, Iowa, with their children, Kennedy and Declan. Joe and Sue's children, Devan and Joey, reside in Peoria. Kathleen "Kitty" Parr '69 is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Manito and has worked as an RN at Pekin Hospital for 33 years, currently part time in the emergency room. Her son, Michael, is a high school counselor at Richwoods. Her daughter, Kelly, is an accountant at PDC. Kitty has three grandchildren. She has taken mission trips to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. Kitty has made pilgrimages to Rome, Fatima, and Avila, and will travel to the Holy Land in May 2017. Sharon Wolfe '73 is proud to be a St. Mark's graduate! Aer living in Florida for many years, she is enjoying reconnecting with the Peoria-area community. Catherine Ernst '91 lives in Connecticut with her husband and three children. She works as a high school psychologist and enjoys running and reading in her free time. Erica Hanley '96 would like to announce a St. Mark's reunion for classes of the 1990s, brought to you by the class of 1996, on Friday, December 23, at 7 p.m. at e Country Club BBQ (formerly the Lucky Lady), 2520 W. Farmington Road, West Peoria, IL 61604. All alumni are welcome. Allison Kenny '10 is a student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Parents Jim and Kay McComb have six children, 16 grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. All of their children, Kate, Matt, Molly, Michael, Maria, and Daniel, went to St. Mark's. ey value their many years of association with St. Mark's and hope everyone will support the school. Parents Charles and Maureen Corrington are now members of Sacred Heart Parish. ey cherish their years at St. Mark's Parish when two of their sons attended St. Mark's. Terrence graduated from St. Mark's and Kevin attended school through fih grade. Parents Hugo and Doris Hoerdeman live in a retirement home and have 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Parent Mary Stiff has lived in Dallas since graduating from AOL. She worked for 16 years as a teacher's aide in a first-grade classroom. Former principal John Crumrine is retired, but looking forward to attending the St. Mark's Auction. ank you for sending us your updates! If you don't see your news here, it will appear in the next edition of Once A Marksman, Always A Marksman. Some students were thrilled to go down the fire escape while others' knees were knocking! Today, those who attend their SMS class reunions make sure they bring wax paper for their trip down the fire escape. Pictured here, Debbie Svymbersky Shanahan '75 takes her turn. From 1905-1987, the order of Sinsinawa Dominicans from Wisconsin sent 192 of their Sisters to St. Mark's. Sr. eogene Sweeney taught English to junior high students from 1968-1976. She wore a full habit the entire time she was at St. Mark's. We'll celebrate our 120th anniversary on June 10, 2017, with an alumni/friends celebration. We can't wait for the next 120 years! St. Mark's was known for our basketball dynasties under coach Jim Ferlmann. Pictured is the Diocesan Championship team from 1972. More recently, the 2013 boys team made it to the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Class 1A State Final Four. In the old days, you never really wanted to hear your name over the intercom. Today, it's oen the students who are making the announcements.
