20 FESTIVAL www.guestlist.net SOUNDWAVE FESTIVAL 19th - 23rd July @ Croatia This electric festival is set to defy expectations this summer Set across the aesthetically stunning surroundings of Tisno, a picturesque town that part straddles the Croatian mainland and the Island of Murter, the eclectic offerings of Soundwave Festival are set to defy expectations yet again with five days in the glorious sunshine now on offer, instead of the previous three. For those unaware this is an experience arguably like no other. With beach parties, boat parties and a private beach thrown into the mix, this year's musical line-up includes legendary Old Skool Hip-Hop Cats De La Soul, the soulful tones of Fink, the deeply cinematic Hidden Orchestra, Mercury- Nominated UK Rapper Ghostpoet and the sublime Submotion Orchestra all performing on the main stage arena to provide the entertainment. With a huge list of DJ's set to bring the noise on the more intimate stages a variety of festival packages are available from the official site priced at £79 upwards. As if we really needed another reason to visit Croatia. Issue 41 / 2012 STANDON CALLING 3RD - 5TH AUGUST Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better in festival land. Standon Calling is a prime example of this, it's relatively a small festival with a capacity of around 5,000 yet it gives punters an intimate experience festival culture. Hosted on Alex Trenchards manor house grounds, and started with a mere 25 guests and some decks has now grown into the festival it was destined to be. Based in Hertford- shire it's about 40 mins north of London The festival has a theme of 'Journey to the ends of the earth' and appeals to the family friendly vibe with activities for youngsters including face painting. There aren't many festivals around the UK that boast a swimming pool, hot air bal- loon rides along with a 6 o'clock music license and some brilliant music! On the bill this year are; Chk Chk Chk, Beardyman, King Charles, The Nextmen and many more. This festival is a true reflection of how us Brits know how to have a good ol' time.
