34 HOUSE / TECHNO tINI Welcome to Guestlist Network. I'm here with the infamous Tini Hello there. How're you doing? I'm really good, hanging out. So we've just come from Fuse and you've just smashed it again, as usual. That's what you do! Thank you. Tell me something, when did it all start for you? I'm mean, just DJing- wise? DJing-wise, that's almost 10 years ago. It was in summer of 2003 and yeah, it's been quite a while. But what made you wanna be a DJ? There wasn't really a feeling of like 'I wanna be a DJ'. We had these re- cords at home, my brother used to buy hip hop tracks and I used to buy hip hop tracks and we started mix- ing them. So it just happened natu- rally without pushing it and I never ever thought that I would become a DJ playing around the world. So I'm happy about that but I never planned it. Never ever. So you obviously met Loco Dice, how did you guys hook up? I met him in Ibiza when my best friend took me to the island and she was like 'you need to hear this guy, he's amazing, he's my favourite DJ'. And she showed me his mixes and songs and whatever. So I met him there and super short after I started to DJ they asked me to play the opening for him in a club in Munich because I was the only one playing this tribal music at the time and they were like 'I think you would fit well with' and I'm like woah I'm not even DJing for a year and they really wanna put me there? So I was like dying, I was so nervous. I'd drunk a lot of shots and then I played the opening, and he came like 'hey, I really like what you do so what about me playing some hours and then we're gonna play back to back till the end. took my best friend Tessa oh my god I don't know what just happened, he asked me to play. I was really super, super nervous and excited and yeah we played together. I was like woahh. So I nice and he was like okay I've gotta keep an eye on you! And here we are though, part of the Desolat family. It was really That's great, you guys actually have a tight family with Hector and Guti and everyone. All you guys are really really close aren't you? Yes we are. We exchange music, we exchange whatever we experience and we became friends. It's not only about music, it's more than that. www.guestlist.net Issue 41 / 2012 After smashing her gig at the mash up Sunday rave Fuse this month, the Desolat star took a hot minute out to catch up with us on her Ibiza radio show, new remixes and Loco Dice. Joe Le Groove | joe@guestlist.net Yeah it definitely is. So what's hap- pening with you right now? You had your album out last year, Tessa, which was named after your best friend, and what have you got go- ing on right now that you can tell? Right now that I can tell - just now, since two days there's one remix out from my friend Yaya also from the Desolat family and I'm gonna have a remix coming out for Miss Kittin, who I'm really proud of because she used to be my all-time hero like back in the day 2003. Her sets from Sonar had this ambience that blew me away and I would have never thought that I was gonna meet her one day. Now we've become friends and Heidi opened up the new label. It's under Get Physical and there's a release coming out with Maya Jane Coles. So the original is from Miss Kittin and I did a remix, so this is coming out. I'm working a lot and doing a lot, the mini album will have collaboration with a Romanian guy called Vit, also known as Evil Tree, there's going to be 6 tracks, tINI and Vit with a mixed up sound and it all kicks off next week with a radio show it's called 'It Could Be Worse', because it could be worse. So we try to do it live as much as possible live streaming, and i'm going to be on the island it goes on every week until 6th October on Ibi- za Global Radio. There's lots of stuff going on tomorrow i'm playing at Cocoon, so it's busy busy, non stop! Your super busy so you can say you're really living the dream. I'm going to ask you a question that isn't related to music. your stuck on a desert island, and you can take 3 famous people with you who would you take with you and why? Famous? Oh my God well Uma Thur- man because i've always wanted to meet her. Erm who else Tarantino! Because I love his movies I mean I used to be an editor so yeah and the third person, maybe the queen just to hang out she looks fun in way! So if you weren't djing where would be? I would be in front of a computer editing children's TV. I did sound de- sign and editing I would be the same person but just doing different thing enjoying life as much as possible with friends. If you could give a piece of advice to someone doing this what would u do? If you have passion and put all your time into something you cannot fail, you can't fail if its meant to be it will be. check out www.facebook.com/ tINI.desolat JOE LE GROOVE´S TOP 10 1.
