Sun Machine includes collaborations with long-time friends singers Malika and Aiza, Robert Perlick Molinari Louis-Joseph Cliche and Max Bellavance met at university. The two both studied jazz and remain impassioned about new technologies; at college, the duo would experiment in the studio for nights on end, creating wild electronic jams. Their goal: to bring electronic music to a live setting where they could express themselves as true musicians. At their first gigs, Beat Market's communicative energy gained countless local fans. The duo has garnered support from the likes of Thump, Dancing Astronaut and KCRW to name but a few. Drawing influences from the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Major Lazer, Mr. Oizo, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Kaytranada, Deadmau5, Daft Punk and Justice, Beat Market's new album features sophisticated French house beats and thumping rhythms. "We want to create a music that makes people move, dance and have fun. An instrumental journey easy to understand and feel. If they feel good when they listen, that's the right path…" explain the duo. NEW RELEASES Pour le Plaisir, Emskee and Screamin' Rachael get together on this TRAX release Singer-songwriter Mona Vale is one to watch for 2017. French producer Pour le Plaisir, meaning for pleasure, takes the steering wheel of TRAX's latest hip house release, a collaboration with New York rapper Emskee and Chicago house veteran Screamin' Rachael. The label famous for popularising acid house in the 80s honours its history in this track, with a squelchy bassline from Pour le Plaisir adding the acid touch to spacey vocals from 'Rachael and a solid set of bars from Emskee. Influenced by the analogue dance of Maribou State and the songwriting of Bon Iver, Mona Vale has crafted a distinctive sound that blends warm house melodies with stripped-back acoustics and emotional vocals. Supported by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1over the weekend, Mona Vale's debut single 'Not Given Up' is about an ex-relationship; how it came to an abrupt end and his hopes that it can be turned around. Subtle percussion and soft guitar riffs give the melody room expand and let the lyrics hit home.
