GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: METHLAB 44 ISSUE 94/ 2016 Their final 2016 showdown in London. This label has had a stellar debut year. The imprint has been rolling out killer material from Current Value, Rawtekk, & Phace, joined the Terminal coalition, rounded it off by nabbing 'Best Newcomer Label' at the Drum&BassArena Awards. Now that's how you pull off a debut year on the scene! MethLab push hard edged technical beats, saying; "We push aphotic electronic bass music, created by pioneering individuals who aren't afraid to break away from the pack". Take one listen to their recent Revenant and you'll realise they've got their money where their mouth is. The compilation sums up their sound and with their award ends 2016 on a high, though we reckon the best is yet to come. The heavyweight Mancunian drum & bass party, Soul:ution are heading back in London squeezing in one final show on Friday 30th December Kickstarting the New Year weekend in the best way possible, Marcus Intalex infamous event has confirmed a mammoth line up to lay waste to Ovation at The Pickle Factory. Headed by the living legend that is Calibre, soul:ution have also drafted in the Med School prodigy Anile. Also on the bill is arguable the best MC in the game, DRS and Marcus Intalex himself. Their final 2016 event rounds off another huge year for them - and sets them up ready for another banging year of parties in 2017. ALBUM OF THE MONTH: JEM ONE - THE INFINITE CIRCLE A rough ride through the jungle. Following up his mad debut LP in 2011 and his string of strong releases this year - Jem One rounds off his year with his massive album, The Infinite Circle. Out on Vapour's 36 Hertz, Jem One racks up twelve serious jungle riddims - full of fat basslines, brain shaking breaks and his classic atmospheric back drops he's become well known for. Taking you round 360 degrees of the jungle style he fixes up a range of rollers, steppers and dancefloor smashers. There is one thing that remains a constant though, and that's the top notch quality and serious levels of intensity. The Infinite Circle has one foot racing for the future whilst the other is firmly down in jungle's roots. Old skool styles with modern day techniques have made for incredible tunes making this a truly standout album from the year. It's no surprise that the quality is so high given this producers time in the game. A staple of 36 Hertz before it began raining jungle down on the clubs, his music has been supported by the biggest in the scene from early. His no bullshit unadulterated jungle sound, when used right, will cause carnage on the floors.
