Johnny's Adult League now consists of six different divisions. There is an elite league which rosters former pro, college and junior players as well as the Federal Hockey League, a hockey league for beginners. The rink has also introduced an adult instructional hockey program for beginners, which has become so popular that a lottery system has been implement- ed in order to pick participants. Last sea- son, a new over-40 elite league was started for those players who still play a high level of hockey. This league has produced two USA Hockey Tier I National Championships in the last three years. The youth hockey programs are also intensely popular. Classes sell out every session and have been expanded to capac- ity. Kids as young as two years old start out in the Icicle Club, a program where parents and their kids can skate together while a coach is on the ice to help them along. The next step is the Learn-to-Skate program, where kids begin to learn skat- ing techniques from in-house coaches – a ratio the rink likes to keep at roughly between 6:1 and 8:1. From there, students move up to Skates and Sticks, a class for advanced hockey skating, then into Minor Mites and finally filtering up to the Chicago Jets Mite teams.
