The West rink is environmen- tally friendly with a green roof and sev- eral energy efficient elements. This rink is also the home practice rink of the Chicago Blackhawks, which have 6,500 square feet of private space, including a locker room, training room, exercise facilities and players lounge and a coaches/video room. The rink hosts the Blackhawks' annual Prospect Camp, all home practices (when not at the United Center), as well as practices for visiting NHL teams. The opening of Johnny's West has allowed the expansion of all hockey pro- grams. "Since 2004, we've seen the adult league go from 60 teams to almost 130 teams," Tom Moro said. "The Chicago Jets organi- zation went from a house program to a travel program and now has a AA team at every level, mite through bantam. We are here to serve the great sport of hockey and its players. Hopefully we can continue to improve and build upon the past successes we have had for many years to come." 14 R INK MAGAZ INE july/August 2011 STARrinks.com • Year building opened: East, 1997 — West, 2010. • Square footage of building and land: East: 45,000 building, land 24,000 — West: 67,000 building, land 43,000. • Tenants: Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Jets Hockey Club, St. Ignatius High School, Latin School of Chicago, Gunzo's Pro Shop. • Size and number of ice/inline surfaces: East: 190' x 85' — West: 200' x 85'. • Number of locker rooms/party rooms: East: Four locker rooms and the Stanley Club Bar and Grill — West: Five locker rooms and the Stanley Club Bar and Grill. • Type of rink floors (sand/concrete): Concrete. • Type & manufacturer of refrigeration system: East Commercial Refrigeration, Ammonia Brine — West Ice Builders, Ammonia Glycol. • Manufacturer of dasher boards: East Becker Arena Products — West Athletica. • Height of glass & netting: East: Glass 60 inches high, netting approximately 12 feet — West: 75 inches high, netting approximately 20 feet. • Type of lighting in arena: East: 8 lamp fluorescent fixtures, 90 above the rink — West: 8 lamp fluorescent fixtures, 110 above the rink. • Year, model, fuel source and manufacture of ice resurfacer(s): East: 1997 Olympia, Natural Gas — West: 1996 Zamboni, Natural Gas. • Seating capacity: East: bleachers 275, Stanley Club 33 — West: bleachers 350, S.
