W elcome to the 10th year of RINK Magazine! Can you believe that RINK is celebrating its 10th anniversary? Or did you even realize that RINK has been around for longer than many of the rinks that we deliver it to? In either event, we are excited for RINK's 10th year, and we have a lot of great new ideas planned for 2007 that will both celebrate RINK's past while keeping an eye on the future of our industry. As you noticed on the cover, we looked back at many of the past covers of RINK. You will also see a "RINK reprint" in every issue this year. RINK has always had articles from some of the industry's best people, and with the turnover in our business, we hope you find something in a reprint that you may not have seen before. Pat Walter's story on page 24 was written over five years ago, and it remains relevant to today's industry. Everyone tells us that they like reading about different rinks, and you will definitely enjoy the story about the incredible Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota, in this issue. We'll also look back at some of the rinks that have served as the Featured Rink in our history in a "Where are they now?" type of feature. But our most important job is to continue to do what has made RINK Magazine "the insider's magazine" on the rink industry and the best publication in the business. For 2007, there will be article after article that apply to the everyday work that many of you do in rinks around the world. When our editorial board discusses a possible article, the same two questions always come up: 1) is the topic relevant? and 2) is the topic practical? Our goal for every issue is to have you read every article and every page (even including my letter!). So rest assured, while we will be celebrating the past of RINK Magazine this year, we will continue to look ahead for you, and provide you with the information to ensure the success of your rink operation. As always, we welcome your feedback. We wish all of you continued success in 2007. Our industry seems to be in a strong position right now, so let's all work together to make sure we have an even better new year. —Pat Kelleher, Chief Operating Officer, STAR Pat Kelleher Dave Wescott Don Moffatt 719-538-1149 719-538-1160 info@rinkmagazine.com Chief Operating Officer: Director, Facility Programs: Assistant Director, Facility Programs: phone: fax: email: STAR is a program of USA Hockey and US Figure Skating Opening address 10 Years and Counting Volume 10 Number 1 6 R INK MAGAZ INE j a n u a r y / f e b r u a r y 2 0 0 7 We are excited for RINK's 10th year, and we have a lot of great new ideas planned for 2007.
