RINK EQUIPMENT: The budget session is just around the corner. Take this time to talk to your staff and/or contractors if any upgrades or repairs are needed to the ice-making equipment, HVAC and concession equipment, to name a few. BUILDING: Depending on what part of the country you are in, the weather could have had an effect on your facility. In the North, walk your roof to prepare for the snow thaw and drainage, and clear your drains. In all areas, weather will have your building moving either from heat from the ceiling or frost from the ground. The building portion of this analysis is crucial. Make sure to take photos and notes for long-term care of the facility and for future budget purposes. OPERATIONS: If you were to do it all over again, would you operate it the same way next year? That is the question that needs to be reviewed annually. Usually the operations area needs a little tweaking. A good idea can be to shuffle some core duties to staff to keep them fresh. Again, it depends on everyone's situation — analyze your entire operations from concessions to corporate advertising sales. Customer surveys can be a good overall indicator of the success of your operation. 42 R INK MAGAZ INE May/June 2007 Planning For NEXT SEASON
