BY AARON LAMBERT A fter conducting national searches, two of Denver's Cath- olic schools have announced the appointment of new presidents. Paul Dull will become Escuela de Guadalupe's new president eŠ ective Feb. 1, whileªBill Barrett will serve as the new president of St. Mary's Academy beginning July 1. Barrett will replace interim president Vicki Schwartz, who will continue to serve as president of St. Mary's Academyªthrough June. "It is with a heartfelt sense of humil- ity and gratitude that I accept the posi- tion of president of St. Mary's Acad- emy," Barrett said in a press release. "For more than 150 years, St. Mary's Academy has prepared children to serve, lead and succeed, and my family and I are honored and proud to be a part of the St. Mary's Academy community." St. Mary's Academy was founded in the 1860s by three Sisters of Loretto from Santa Fe, N.M., and are committed to educating their students in the traditions of the Loretto sisters, educating "others as well as ourselves to truly, beauty and the ways of peace, in the spirit of Jesus." "We feel very excited and blessed as we prepare to have Paul Dull join his life and work with our school's legacy of excellence," wrote Escuela de Guadalupe board chairman Lindsay Filsinger of the appointment of Dull as the school's new president. Escuela de Guadalupe opened in Sept. 1999 and according to its web- site, "focuses on providing a quality dual-language education, rooted in Catholic values."
