hese are the type of questions
the management of the Comcast
Arena at Everett Events Center in
Everett, Wash., ponders every
year. To answer these questions they
conducted their annual emergency
evacuation drill in March. But perhaps
what made the drill so unique was that
they did it as a promotion, when the
entire facility was full of patrons!
The day of the drill, the Everett Silvertips
junior hockey team (WHL) was playing a
game against their rival Tri-City Americans
in the main arena. Another 300 people were
in the conference center for a United Way
event, and there were adult hockey league
games underway in the community ice
rink. In all, there were close to 5,000 patrons
in the facility when the fire alarm was
pulled by Lincoln, the Silvertips mascot.
